Flo-Pak and Super 8 Loosefill Void Fill

FLO-PAK® provides the best, most reliable cushioning protection. Manufactured by FP International since the 1960’s, FLO-PAK is efficient, cost-effective and easy to handle. FLO-PAK  is the answer to your loose fill needs. The distinctive figure-eight shape of FLO-PAK provides superior cushioning. Its unique manufacturing process eliminates cracking so there is no dust in the packing area or carton.

FLO-PAK is available in bags or delivered in bulk to meet every protective packaging situation.

SUPER 8® is made with the same high quality and standards as FLO-PAK but stronger; SUPER 8 packing peanuts are designed to protect heavier items. Its beefy shape is tough and resilient. SUPER 8 is made with optimal expansion so the material won’t slit or crack and is more stable in transit. Because it doesn’t chip or flake, nothing will get into products, clog dispensing machines or leave flakes in shipping cartons.

An Electrical Grade of Super 8 is available. When anti-static packing peanuts is needed, SUPER 8 electronic grade is the best material for the job. They are also made of 100% recycled polystyrene. It protects time and time again.  Because of its super-cushioning power, less material is needed for protection than other loosefill materials.

SUPER 8® Packing Peanuts that are Environmentally Friendly Void Fill Packaging
SUPER 8 in a biodegradable form is the next generation of sustainable packaging. From manufacturing to disposal, their biodegradable SUPER 8 peanuts are made to provide superior product protection while being environmentally friendly packaging. Its the only biodegradable packaging loose fill made from 100% recycled polystyrene that includes post consumer polystyrene foam that would otherwise end up in the waste stream.
SUPER 8 contains an additive that accelerates degradation. If not recycled, it will biodegrade within 1 to 5 years or more depending upon conditions, in the presence of microorganisms. Because conditions vary from place to place and landfill to landfill, the exact time for degradation varies depending upon the level of microbial activity. Not only is SUPER 8 truly biodegradable packaging, but it is cost effective while providing superior product protection.
It comes in an easy to identify, light green color for customer awareness.  Only green colored loose fill in the shape of a figure 8 is biodegradable and eco friendly packaging.
Benefits of Super 8 over starch
  • Made from 100% recycled polystyrene and is biodegradable
  • Biodegrades in 1 to 5 years or more depending upon conditions, in the presence of microorganisms
  • Can be recycled or reused
  • Has no attraction to rodents
  • Environmental humidity does not affect product performance
  • Superior interlocking secures the product and prevents it from shifting in the box
  • 64% lighter than starch loosefill to lower shipping costs
What makes the product biodegrade?
The packing peanuts are made from 100% recycled polystyrene that contains a proprietary additive, which will allow the product to degrade in the presence of microorganisms in 1 to 5 years or more depending on conditions. This additive does not affect the performance or the shelf life of their product, because biodegradation only occurs in the presence of microorganisms which are present in landfills, home and commercial composting, and other areas where they exist in nature. These eco friendly packaging products will biodegrade in aerobic (with air) and anaerobic (without air) conditions.

Their FLO-PAK® and SUPER 8® products can be returned for reuse at over 1,500 locations listed in Plastic Loosefill Council’s Peanut Hotline (800-828-2214, http://www.loosefillpackaging.com/). Their FLO-PAK® and SUPER 8® products can be returned for recycling to locations listed in the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers (AFPR) drop-off or their mail-in program.
